27/28th March LUC Earns First Womens Masters A Title at SDCC

The San Diego Crew Classic is an event for rowers of all levels from ages 14-84 to compete each year in various divisions. More than 3,400 athletes from 100 clubs, universities and colleges in the United States participate in this marquee regatta. We sent our Masters A and Club womens boats along with a Varsity and Junior Varsity boat from Holy Names Academy.

In an exciting race, LUC's Womens Masters A 8+ walked through a solid field of competition to win its first ever Hudson Cup at the San Diego Crew Classic. The crew comprised of Heather Dow (cox), Michelle Havey (8), Caitlin McClain (7), Aimee Ettel (6), Mara Barckert (5), Mandy Nelson (4), Marnie Wolfe (3), Ginger Gloystein (2), and Julie Hackworth (1) struggled after the start, but then found its rhythym and took the lead by the 1000 meter mark, beating the second place crew, USC Alumni, by a boat length. Congratulations LUC we are very proud.
