Who Benefits

Lake Union Crew is home to many programs. This diversity is part of the appeal and strength of LUC. This effort benefits every program at the boathouse – including learn-to-row, juniors, collegiate, masters, HNA athletes, and Outreach Foundation beneficiaries.

Here are some of the membership highlights since the doors first opening in February 1998:

  • over 3,000 people have learned to row
  • nearly 500 Holy Names Academy students became crew athletes
  • hundreds of rowers have participated in LUC's recreational program
  • several hundred of you have chosen to compete, participating in hundreds of races at local, national and international regattas
  • 4 prestigous Head of the Charles titles have been claimed by Holy Names Academy athletes
  • LUC's Masters have won dozens of National, World, and Head of the Charles titles
  • 7 couples met at LUC and eventually married
  • ?? couples met at LUC and didn't marry ;)
  • And millions and Millions and MILLIONS of meters have been rowed on our Model C ergs (approximately 700 million meters which equates to over 17 times around the earth or nearly to the moon and back!)

Many of you have many other interesting fun facts and stories about your experiences at LUC. If you'd like to share them, we'd like to post them. In particular, if you have a good story about Rome please send it along. We'll post those here and present a compilation to her at the presentation ceremony.
