| Junior Rowing
Lake Union Crew's Junior Program is open to experienced rowers between the ages of 12 and 18. The focus is on developing boat speed through combinations of eights, fours, quads, doubles and singles. Program size is limited to 40 athletes and is open to both junior men and women. Because we limit our junior program enrollment, Lake Union Crew is able to provide far more individualized coaching and attention to training than the average junior program. Lake Union Crew's objective is for athletes to achieve balance between their academic, athletic and social lives while competing in this fast-growing sport. Our core program meets 3 days per week, and our top boats practice an additional two days per week, by invitation from the Coaching Staff. Juniors with previous rowing experience, or who have participated in LUC's Junior Summer Camp are welcome to participate in LUC's Junior Program. Those new to the sport first must take our Learn To Row class or participate in our Young Athlete Introductory Classes before assimilating into the Junior Program.
Costs vary each season based on the following criteria: number of weeks in each season; three vs. five day-a-week practices; regatta fees that may fall in a given season; and holidays as noted on the season's registration form. Scholarships are available for qualified juniors.
Parent Handbook
The world of rowing can be confusing, espeically if you or your athlete are new to the sport. We have compiled a Parent Handbook to help guide you. Here you will find information concerning expectations, terminology, regatta information, etc. Please review the information and feel free to contact us or speak with our Coaches if you have any further questions.
