LEARN TO ROW
This is a class for the person completely new to the sport. The class covers all the basics you’ll need to get you started as a novice rower. Upon completion of the Learn To Row class, participants have the option of becoming full Members or continuing on a 30 day trial membership.
Ongoing Programs
Full-time Members participate in one or more of the following programs.
SWEEP AND SCULL
After Learn to Row, this is your next step. More focus on technique and drills to develop consistency in the stroke. This is also a good place to start if you’ve rowed before, but maybe it’s been awhile since you’ve been in a boat.
LOCALLY COMPETITIVE
This program is for those who want to focus on building boat speed and racing at local regattas. Boats begin to run in set line-ups as part of training for each race.
NATIONALLY COMPETITIVE
Have a blast going fast! In addition to local regattas, our Nationally Competitive Program travels to the ‘big’ races; San Diego Crew Classic, Head of the Charles, Master’s Nationals, Master’s Worlds, Canadian Henley, British Henley and others.
COLLEGIATE PROGRAMS
If you’re a college rower home on break and want to stay on the water and keep in shape, Lake Union Crew offers short-term Memberships with no Initiation Fee. Our Collegiate Programs coincide with summer and winter vacations.
JUNIOR PROGRAM
If you are between the ages of 12-17, this program is for you! LUC Juniors focus on racing in sculling combinations of singles, doubles and quads. Prerequisite: Learn to Row or Junior Summer Camp
JUNIOR SUMMER CAMP
For ages 12-17. Whether you’re new to the sport, or an experienced rower our camps are a great way to row all summer! 3 sessions meet June, July and August. Sign up for one or all three.
COXSWAIN TRAINING
Do you like to give commands? Do you have a BIG voice? Ever wonder what it would be like to steer a 60’ boat with eight rowers down a perfectly straight course to victory? Sound like your kind of excitement? Contact us!
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
You don't have to row to be a Member of Lake Union Crew. Our gym and workout facilities are available for use at the Associate Membership level. Experienced rowers may be eligible for water time to substitute, as needed.
